Industrial Fuels

Through Dynamotive’s Fast Pyrolysis Process, the company has managed to produce three industrial grade biofuels with applications in stationary energy generation and several other sectors. These products are BioOil, BioOil Plus and CQuest BioChar.

Dynamotive’s biofuels are created from cellulosic material found in biomass from plants and do not compete with food crops. Since plants absorb CO2 during their lifetime, our biofuels only emit the same amount of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) as was absorbed by the plant. All of our biofuels are GHG neutral when burned.

BioOil, Dynamotive’s keystone pyrolysis product, is a liquid fuel with many of the same properties as Fuel Oil No.2 and can effectively replace it as a fuel source with minor adjustments to existing systems. Dynamotive, with Magellan’s Orenda Turbine which is fueled by BioOil, can generate 2.5 MegaWatt of power as demonstrated at the company’s West Lorne Cogeneration Plant in Ontario, Canada.

CQuest BioChar is a secondary product created from the Fast Pyrolysis process. It is a fine powdery substance that can be used in Lime Kiln applications for heating, and also has many applications in the agricultural industry. Several tests using BioChar as a soil enhancer have proven significant improvements to crop health and growth.

BioOil Plus is a post-process product that combines BioOil and BioChar. It is comprised of 80% BioOil and 20% BioChar giving BioOil Plus a higher energy content. BioOil Plus is geared to be exclusively an industrial fuel and can be used for several applications in the multi-million dollar boiler and kiln industry.

From CQuest BioChar’s agricultural applications to BioOil’s Power Generation capabilities, Dynamotive has developed a unique, efficient, effective, economic and ethical source of energy.
